Some thoughts on basketball

As college teams from around the land are preparing for the onset of the first weeks of practice and games later this month, optimism abounds in Peoria for the new crop of Bradley players while there are also reservations about the current coaching situation.

I'm not quite sure really what to expect, outside of I like what I have seen from the guys this summer, and what I've heard of their performances in Canada last week. But, typically, I believe that we will see some wins we didn't count on, as well as some losses we never could've possibly imagined. I also think they have a favorable early season schedule with some notable teams like DePaul and Pepperdine on our home court. They do have a brutal stretch in the middle of their Missouri Valley Conference schedule, with a stretch of road games and a key game against Wichita at home in the middle of it. So it stands to reason we might see a lot of good things early on in the year, and then it might appear that the team hits a wall in the middle of the season.

Reasonable expectations should be 4 games below .500 on the low end to a potential NIT entry on the positive side.

Where are the reservations concerning the caoches? Oh, you must be talking about Dick Les, our overpriced head coach. When it comes to college hoops, he hasn't a clue what to do the the ball.

Be glad to Yoni, as soon as I figure out how to do that. I may email you for assistance. In the meantime, feel free to also visit www.pjstarforums.com/sports . There is a message board for college and pro sports, but the talk is dominated by college hoops and by a diverse fan base in the Midwest from Illinois, Bradley, Illinois State, SIU, NIU, Wisconsin, Western Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, Drake, and Illinois Central College (local JUCO), among others. At one point we had a poster from Stetson (known as the Mad Hatter) and most recently we've added an Ole Miss fan. . .
